I think this is an off-shoot of the Via Francigena - Via di Francesco, "The Way of St. Francis," It starts in Dovadola (Northern Italy, just west of Forli) and goes to Rome, however we stopped in Rieti (100kms from Rome), for 300+ miles. We walked it Mid Sept./mid Oct. 2015. Earlier we had walked the 1200 miles from Geneva to Santiago De Compostela, but this was more strenuous. We were registered as the 509 and 510th Pilgrims for the year; and only met one other, a single male from France, in the first 10 days. Being a married couple the nice part of the solitude was with only the French Pilgrim along, we each got our own room and shower at the refuges. One high point was arriving in Assisi where we joined thousands celebrating the Feast of St.Francis. We got a certificate (like in Santiago) at the Cathedral of St. Francis. The trail signage is very bad, and nonexistent in places, which added both frustration and extra miles, but all in all a very rewarding experience.
